Hello, I'm Dr. Junsup Ban, the director of Olive Cosmetic Surgery clinic. However, cosmetic surgeries on the jaw actually have fewer side effects than the double eyelid or the nose cosmetic surgeries. Also, for the experienced doctor equipped with great technique and precision, there is almost no room for side effects that may be of concern.   There is also the misconception that after the jaw reduction surgery, there is great swelling and pain. However, if the operation is performed by a highly-technical plastic surgeon, the swelling subsides in 3-7 days allowing the patient to return to his or her normal life. The square jaw surgery (mandibular angle reduction) is actually called the square jaw alignment surgery because this surgery most often involves not only the reduction of the square jaw but involves changing the overall smoothness of the jaw itself. Lately, however, more emphasis is put on reduction rather than alignment. Consequently, our clinic calls this procedure "square jaw surgery (mandibular angle reduction)" rather than "square jaw alignment surgery." square jaw surgery (mandibular angle reduction) smoothes out the rectangular edges of the jaw and reduces the size of the lower face. It is performed most frequently among facial outline surgeries.
